Churchill

By Brian Sewell aka Mercator II

Churchill was built primarily as a way to encourage my son into the hobby I enjoy so much

Initially built as a table top layout, so he had something to run his own trains on

I have taken him to a few smaller shows, Pickering whilst on holiday, Spalding and one local to us Boston Model Railway Society, held ironically not in Boston!! It was at one of their shows (2024) he asked me if he could take his to the show, so with me by his side, he went to ask the show organiser who duly said yes to the following year

This gave me a year to completely rebuild it so it was firstly transportable and fit to exhibit

Cost was a carefully considered factor in the rebuild, I wasn't about to break the bank on what might be a passing interest. So that well known online auction site was a great source of prebowned buildings, and most of the track needed was already in hand. Scenics where mostly from my stock pile of bits that you keep because one day it might come in handy!!

To keep it simple, its DC controlled, using my trusty old Duette and point control with Seep motors

The date came round really quickly, and both my son & I had a great time over the two days
